What is Cardamom?

Cardamom is a natural aromatic spice widely used for its warm, sweet, slightly spicy, and herbal flavour profile. Indonesian cardamom, commonly known as Kapulaga or Java Cardamom, is generally associated with Amomum compactum, a type of cardamom valued for culinary, herbal, functional beverage, seasoning, and traditional medicine applications.

Indonesian Cardamom Heritage

Cardamom has long been used in Indonesia as part of traditional spice and herbal culture. Amomum compactum, also known as Java cardamom, originates from the lower hills of western Java and is also cultivated in areas such as western Java, southern Sumatra, and the Moluccas.
